Auto Car Paint in Auckland

Auto car painting is the process of applying paint to the exterior of a car or other vehicle. This is typically done to restore or enhance the appearance of a vehicle, or to protect the car’s body from the elements.

Auto car painting is a meticulous process that involves a series of steps, including sanding and priming the car’s surface, applying the paint, and then drying and curing the paint. It’s important that that car painting should be performed by trained professionals in an auto body shop.

When we talk about car paint, there are a few different types of services we’re referring to:

Touch up car paint

As the name describes, this is generally a smaller paint job where a specific section of your vehicle needs to be touched up. We may need to buff or polish first, or we may need to do minor repair work to remove damage that a dent or ding has left.

Car touch up paint is often what is needed if a car door has been scratched, a branch has fallen on your car, or a shopping trolley or child’s scooter has come too close.

Collision repair car paint

This is usually paintwork that is needed on a larger section, requiring a bit more work than touch up paint.

If your vehicle has been involved in a collision and there is damage to it, once we’ve completed the repair work, we will need to paint the affected section(s). Usually this involves a bumper, door, side panel or the bonnet of your car. We will repair the damage, buff, polish, colour match and paint.

Will insurance pay for a car paint job?

In some instances, a paint job may be part of an insurance claim you make after damage or a collision. At Mt Roskill Collision Centre we partner with several of the most reputable car insurance companies in New Zealand and have fantastic working relationships with them. We understand the variances between different policies and can help you determine whether paintwork can be part of your claim.

Why car paint is so important – the aesthetic reasons

The paint on your vehicle serves two purposes – aesthetic and functional.

The aesthetic purpose of your car paint is to help it look good. Looking after your car includes having scratches, dings and dents repaired and painted. This shows to others that you take care of your car. If and when you go to sell your car, a buyer will be more willing to pay a higher price knowing that the vehicle has been looked after.

It’s also a proven fact that looking after your property and possessions is a self-fulfilling thing. The more you look after something, the more effort you will make to continue to look after it – and the more effort others will make in keeping your car in good condition.

Why car paint is so important – the functional reasons

The functional purpose of your vehicle paint is to provide protection. The paint on your car helps to protect the metal from damage. High quality paint on your car, along with galvanised steel, means that cars no longer succumb to rust like they used to. Advances in vehicle manufacturing, coating and painting mean body parts now stay in much better shape.
