Being involved in a car accident can be a very stressful occurrence regardless of how minor or severe it is. You worry about your safety, the impact of other people or property involved, the cost of collision repairs, the impact on your driving record, time off work that you might need, time without your vehicle as a result. It can be a long list.

The best way to minimise the stress of a collision is to know what to do if you’re involved in a car accident. Being prepared simply by knowing what to do first and who to call will give you some peace of mind should you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of dealing with a car smash.
One of the most common types of car accidents is rear-end collisions. Some people don’t even consider them as car accidents because they happen so frequently – especially in Auckland traffic. However, it’s vital to think of them as genuine car accidents and not just a fender bender or nose-to-tail.
It may surprise you to hear that a large number of people involved in rear-end collisions don’t have their vehicles checked or even go in for rear-end collision repairs by a panel beater.
Rear-end collisions happen in all types of conditions. Sometimes drivers will hit each other when they’re driving at high speeds on the motorway, and one driver makes a sudden move or brakes quickly. However, rear-end collisions also frequently happen in extremely slow traffic or in peak hour traffic. For instance, when people are actually less diligent because they’re just crawling along. When people are bored or frustrated in slow-moving traffic, they often cause more collisions than when driving faster. Unfortunately, more people tend to use their phones when they’re in rush hour traffic jams, causing accidents.
Please note, Mt Roskill Collision Centre is a strong advocate of putting your phone away when driving a motor vehicle. If you need to use your phone for navigation, we suggest turning notifications off while you’re driving.
One of the first things you might think of when your car is damaged, or you’re involved in a collision (after ensuring that everyone is safe) is, “Oh man, now I’m going to be without my car for days!”
We know you don’t want to be without your car for any longer than needed. In Auckland, we rely on our vehicles to get around, get to work, drop the kids off at school and for sport, etc.
How long should an average car collision repair take? Are there things you can do to shorten the length of time your car is with the panel beater?
